Frances Ann Lubbers

Frances A. "Fran" Lubbers, 80, passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2010, at Morningside Nursing and Memory Center in South Bend. She was born on September 1, 1929, in Springfield, Ohio, to the late William A. and Victorina (Donohoe) Lubbers. Her family moved to South Bend in 1930, where the Lubbers family has lived since. Fran was preceded in death by her identical twin sister, Marjorie A. Lubbers, in 1966, and by her beloved rescue dog, Chinook.
Fran is survived by her two sisters, Elaine V. Lubbers and Rosemarie L. (Jerry) Hickey, both of South Bend; nephews GuruBandhu Singh (Hari Atma) Khalsa of Wasilla, AK, Patrick (Junay) Hickey, Sr. of Asheville, NC, and Jerry P. Hickey of Chicago; nieces Karen Hickey (John) Voll of South Bend, Maureen Hickey (Tony) Ervin of Woodbury, MN, and Sheila Hickey (Tim) Burke of Minneapolis, MN. Fran was a principal at RECO Sporting Goods, founded by her father, in downtown South Bend working at the store from her high school years until the store closed in 1968.
Visitation will be from 4 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, at Palmer Funeral Home Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Rd. A rosary will be said at 4:00 pm that afternoon.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Little Flower Catholic Church, on Wednesday, September 1 at 10:00 am, with visitation at 9:30 am. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
