Rita Marie Sachman, 65, of Fairington Circle, passed away Sunday, March 3, surrounded by her loved ones in her daughter's home. She was born Sept. 22, 1936, in Michigan City, Ind., to the late Anthony and Mary Kolasa. On Dec. 29, 1954, as Rita Kolasa, she married Donald R. Sachman in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Michigan City. He preceded her in death on May 22, 1990. Rita is survived by a brother, Richard (Barbara) Kolasa of LaPorte, Ind. Also left to cherish her memory are her five children and their families: three sons, David (Colleen) Sachman of South Bend, Ind., and their son, Justin; Donald (Debra) Sachman of Niles, Mich., and their children, Nathan and Nicole; Daniel (Cathy) Sachman of Mishawaka, Ind., and their children, Tyler, Kaleigh, Jacob and Colin; and two daughters, Diane (Greg) Konkle of Niles, and their children, Aimee, Courtney, Eric, Briana and Gregory; and Debra Sachman and her daughters, Lindsey Kuhar and Brittany Rybicki. Rita is also survived by one great-grandchild, Tristan Michael. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, in St. Mark's Catholic Church, located at 3 North 19th Street, Niles. Friends may call one hour prior to services in the church. Cremation has taken place and interment will be at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery, Michigan City, at a later date.
The McGann Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Rita will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren.
