Edwin “Ed” R. DePoy, 94, of South Branch and formerly of Niles, passed away at home on Friday, November 5, 2021. Ed was born on June 15, 1927, to the late Raymond and Hazel (Good) DePoy in Winamac, Indiana. After graduating from Winamac High School, Ed went on to wed Barbara Jean Zuhl at a ceremony in Eau Claire, Michigan. Together Ed and Barbara Jean raised their four children.

Ed was a follower of any sport he could watch, loved going fishing, and spent countless hours in his vegetable garden. He was also a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Granger. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Hazel DePoy; wife, Barbara DePoy; son Darl DePoy; and his siblings, Richard, Kenneth, and Herbert DePoy, Clara Brunton, Agnes Cornell, and Annabelle DePoy. Ed is survived by his children, Jeffrey Depoy of Naple, Texas, Cindy (Jim) Wagner of Lantana, Texas, and Keith (Sara) DePoy of South Branch, Michigan; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; siblings, Harold (Edith) DePoy and Darl DePoy both of Winamac, Indiana; and many extended family members and close friends. Ed has been cremated and his family will be hosting a memorial service in the coming months. Ed will then be laid to rest at Smith’s Chapel Cemetery next to his wife.
