Maria Balogh

SOUTH BEND - Maria Balogh, 66, of South Bend died peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2014, in her residence following a lengthy illness. Maria was born May 13, 1947, in South Bend, to Irene (Kalafat) and the late Manuel Sadural, and was a lifetime area resident. On June 15, 1968, in South Bend, as Maria Sadural, she married David E. Balogh, who survives. She is also survived by a son, Thomas Balogh of South Bend; one granddaughter, Lilly Balogh of Des Moines, IA; her mother, Irene Sadural of South Bend; two brothers, Joseph M. Sadural (Sandra) and James A. Sadural (Cheril), both of Granger; and a sister-in-law, Zita Szilagyi of South Bend. She was preceded in death by her father, and a son, Michael D. Balogh. Maria was a fun-loving person with a warm and caring personality. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her many friends. Maria was known for her generosity and hospitality. She was an excellent cook and baker. Everyone loved the Baklava and Kieflies that she made in tremendous quantities each holiday season. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Center for Hospice Care team members for their caring support. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 21st, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Committal services and burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday, February 20th, in the funeral home.
