SOUTH BEND - Georgette Eid, also known as “Um Issa,” residing in South Bend, Indiana, was born in Tiberias, Palestine, to Elias and Labibeh Attallah. As a novitiate in Beirut, she met Hanna Eid, a young seminarian, and ended up marrying her soulmate and the love of her life. They lived in the Christian Quarter of the old city of Jerusalem where they were blessed with four children, Marlene, Issa, Mona and Mansour. In 1988, she moved to the United States with her husband to be closer to her children. They were granted more blessings with eight grandchildren who adore her. On Monday, October 10th, 2016, at 10:31 am, Georgette passed away in peace surrounded by her loving husband and her four children, of whom she was proud. She constantly shared stories about their times growing up. Georgette was a gifted artist who used the needle, crochet, and embroidery to create masterpieces. She was very talented and well-versed in several languages. Her positive attitude about life and jovial demeanor kept her telling jokes until the last hours of her life. All the children will miss mom and the grandchildren will miss Teta (grandma), but she will be in their memories forever. Mass will be celebrated at Little Flower Catholic Church on Saturday, October 15th, 2016, at 10:30 am, with visitation one hour prior in the church.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.To send condolences to the family, please visit www.McGannHay.com.
