===============
The birth year shown above is approximate, based on several records. The 1910 census of Matteson Township of Branch Co., Michigan indicates that James and Mary Horkey had a 3-year-old daughter, "Ragana" Horkey, born in Michigan. The 1920 census of Bronson Township of Branch County indicates that James and Mary Horkey had a 12-year old daughter, Regina Horkey, born in Michigan.On April 22, 1929, Rev. B. Stafanski, pastor of St. Mary's Church in Bronson, Michigan, married Miss Regina Horka (sic), 20, and Julius DeFrew (sic), 21. According to the marriage record, Julius, a clerk in South Bend, Indiana, was the son of Alphonse and Freda Blankert DeFeuw (sic), and that Regina, a factory worker in Bronson, was the daughter of James and Mary Zielinska Horka (sic). (image of original marriage record, ancestry.com) Regina's date and place of death are from her death certificate for which her son, James DeFreeuw, was the informant. His understanding was that his mother was born Aug. 18, 1907 in Bronson, Michigan to James and Mary Horkey.
