Mary Jo Schiel, 88, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 8:45 PM in Rittenhouse Senior Living, Michigan City. Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 11:00 am in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Buffalo & 10th Streets with the Rev. Walter Rakoczy, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery Michigan City, Indiana. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 pm till 8:00 pm and Saturday from 9:30 am till 10:30 am at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City. She was born July 11, 1925 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Joseph and Josephine (Otten) Timm . On October 26, 1946 in Michigan City she married Robert N. Schiel, who preceded her on September 2, 1997. Surviving are 3 Daughters, Anne Marie (James) Weatherford of North Carolina, Kathleen Gino of Houston, Texas and Linda (Alan) McCarter of Riverside, Illinois, 4 Sons, Dr. David (Dr. Barbara) Schiel of Christchurch, New Zealand, Lawrence (Phyllis) Schiel of Huntington Beach, California, Dr. Philip (Dr. Carol) Schiel of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Timothy (Laura) Schiel of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Sister, Genevieve Gantner of St. Louis, Missouri; Brother, Rev. Richard Timm, C.S.C of Dacca, Bangladesh; 14 Grandchildren; 6 Great-Grandchildren; She was preceded in death by Daughter, Theresa Schiel and Brother, Robert J. Timm. She retired from Sears Roebuck & Co., Michigan City. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, former Eucharist minister, Evangelical committee for St. Mary's Church, Meals on Wheels, Catholic Women's Study Club, Barker Guild, Senior Citizens Center at Washington Park and Catholic Charities.
