MISHAWAKA - June M. Goethals, 99, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. June was born on June 22, 1918 in South Bend to Henry and Emma (DeWitte) DeVleeschower. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Angela, Mildred, Lucy and Julius and sisters-in-law, Genevieve Mikels, Irene Rodts and Clara Cox. On October 26, 1940 in South Bend she married Peter Goethals; he also preceded her in death in 1996 after 56 years of marriage. Surviving are her sons, Norm (Gail) Goethals of Muncie, IN and Kenny (Emily) Goethals of Bremen, IN; randdaughters, Courtney (David) Dobrow and Haley (Reuben) Lake; nephews, David (Detta) DeVleeschower, Steven Rodts and Danny (Maryann) Rodts and Tom (Barb) Cox; nieces, Joyce Ploughe, Janice Morrical, Barb Roberts, Joyce Biesbrouck, Jeanne (Don) Luther and many grand nieces and nephews. June worked for Uniroyal and retired in 1978. She was a member of St. Bavo Catholic Church in Mishawaka for 75 years, and a member of Battel Center and enjoyed dancing and exercising with Pat Sell and Theweah Harding. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 29 from 4 to 7 p.m., with a Rosary at 6 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, November 30 at 10 a.m. in St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Pete. Mom, Grandma June, (Aunt June) will be remembered by her generosity and also by her loving and caring spirit. She will forever be in our hearts.
