SOUTH BEND -- The funeral for Mr. Frank B. Zielinski, 69, of New Carlisle and formerly of LaPorte, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend, with Rev. Richard Laurick officiating. Mr. Zielinski died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at 3:20 p.m. at his home. Friends may call Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
He was born Aug. 18, 1933, in LaPorte to Frank S. and Irene P. (Malicki) Zielinski, and had lived in New Carlisle since 1968, coming from LaPorte. Mr. Zielinski was a teacher at New Prairie High School for 17 years and at LaPorte High School for 18 years. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 5570 of South Bend, was a member and served as treasurer for 15 years of the New Carlisle Conservation Club, and was former treasurer of the LaPorte Federation of Teachers Association. He was a 1951 graduate of New Carlisle High School, a graduate of the University of Indianapolis and received a master's degree in education from Indiana University. On Oct. 3, 1953, at St. Patrick's Church, South Bend, he married Joyce Hutchison, who survives.Also surviving are two daughters, Julie A. Crick of Indianapolis and Janet L. Overman of Concord, N.C.; one son, Tom P. of North Liberty; and two brothers, Dan of Danville, Ind., and Richard "Jim" of Crawfordsville, Ind.
