Stephanie Juanetta Smolinski, 54, of Elkhart, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022, at Elkhart General Hospital. Steffi was born Feb. 6, 1968, in Elkhart to the late John E. Purvis and Martha F. (Smith) Purvis. Surviving is her husband, Michael Smolinski, as well has her three daughters: Mandy K. Purvis, Jesse F. (Aaron Blessing) Smolinski and Riley P. Smolinski. Steffi is also survived by her mother, Martha Purvis, a sister Connie (David) Ritchie and brother Chris Purvis. She also has one grandchild Kash Blessing. Steffi is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father John E. Purvis. She attended Elkhart Memorial High School and later married her best friend Michael Smolinski and created their family. Steffi knew how to brighten a room with her beautiful smile and vibrant, sassy spirt. Her love for music impacted everyone close to her. She went to the beat of her own drum. She knew how to have a gathering and really throw a party. Steffi also had a passion for horses and watched the Derby yearly. She also had a special place in her heart for morel mushroom season, she always said it was like Christmas in May. She loved cooking and gardening, but she especially loved her family and her animals. Steffi was also a cancer survivor and on her relaxing days she found comfort in her favorite TV shows like Ghost Adventures, Criminal I.D. and reality shows. Steffi was a lovely spirit! She will be deeply missed by many. A visitation for Steffi will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 7, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home in Elkhart. A service for Steffi will be held Thursday, Dec. 8, at 11 a.m. with an hour of visitation prior to the service at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Osolo Cemetery in Elkhart.
