Cynthia “Cindy” Moore
Dec. 1, 1949 - March 5, 2021
SOUTH BEND - Cynthia “Cindy” Moore, 71, of South Bend, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 5. Cindy was born in South Bend, Indiana on December 1, 1949 to George and Madelon (Burmeister) Ginter. Cindy met the love of her life, Marv Moore, in the first grade at Lincoln Elementary School. On July 1, 1972 they married and created a life they loved for 48 years. The light of Cindy's life was her daughter and son, Mindy and Eric. She was the proud GaGa of Nolan, Malia, Anniston, and Kate. Her love for kids started long before her children and grandchildren. After 30 years of teaching she retired from the South Bend Community School Corporation in 2016, where she was a first-grade teacher. Through the years she taught at St. Patrick's School in Walkerton, St. Matthew's, Monroe, Wilson, and McKinley. She served on the Board of Directors at Chiara Home and most recently volunteered at Hannah's House. Cindy always had a smile and a snack ready for anyone who came through her door. You could spot her driving around town in her convertible, working in her yard, or on the dance floor when the DJ played “Mustang Sally.” She was the best GaGa! She never missed a school activity, ball game or musical. She will be missed by many! Cindy is survived by her loving husband, Marv; their children, Mindy (Jeff) Steele of South Bend and Eric (Krystin) Moore of Mishawaka; and her grandchildren, Nolan and Malia Moore, Anniston and Kate Steele. Cindy is also survived by her sister, Judy (Tim) Decker of Bremen; her brother, Ron (Kathi) Ginter of South Bend; and her sister-in-law, Becky Toops of Mishawaka. She was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, Bill and Helen Moore; and her brother, Tom Ginter (2015). Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, March 9 from 3:00pm until 8:00pm, in the Hanley and Sons Funeral Home, “Southwest Chapel” 23421 State Rd. 23, South Bend, and two hours prior to the service on Wednesday. A service celebrating Cindy's life will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, March 10 in the funeral home with Pastor Vito Rulli. She will be laid to rest in the Southlawn Cemetery of South Bend. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to any of the following charities: Pet Refuge, 4626 Burnett Dr., South Bend, IN 46614; Premier Arts, 410 S. Main St., Elkhart, IN 46516; or East End Mishawaka Baseball-Softball Association, P.O. Box 141, Mishawaka, IN 46546. The HANLEY family extends its heartfelt sympathy to all of Cindy's family and friends. Condolences can be expressed at: www.hanleyandsonsfuneralhomes.com.
