Lucile H. Geyer, 96, residing at Shavehead Lake, Cassopolis, MI, passed away at 11:14 p.m. Saturday, April 19. 2014 at Elkhart General Hospital.She was born September 11, 1917 in South Bend, a daughter of Andrew N. & Edna (Gilman) Hildebrand, and has lived in South Bend most of her life, and moved to Shavehead Lake in 2006. In 1939 in South Bend, as Lucile Hildebrand, she was united in marriage to Eugene L. Geyer, D.D.S. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage until his passing on December 30, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Bertha Keller, her brother, Jerry Hildebrand, daughter-in-law, Judy Geyer in April 2006, and great-grandson, Thomas George Klunder in October 2013. Lucile worked as an Assistant to her husband Dr. Eugene Geyer at his Dental practice in South Bend. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, South Bend, and was a longtime member and Cellist with the South Bend Symphony. She and her husband Eugene worked for many years on mission trips to Haiti, and traveled extensively to swimming events. She also enjoyed spending winters in Sun City, Arizona for thirty years.
Lucile is survived by her two sons, Thomas (Kathy) Geyer of Cassopolis, MI; Dennis (Lynda) Geyer of Nokomis, FL; four grandchildren, Chris Geyer, Eric Geyer, Libby (Andy) Klunder, and Jessica (Matt) Zentz. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Jewell & Dylan Eyestone, David Geyer, and Serena, Ethan & Bridgette Zentz. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Rev. Dr. David Schrader will officiate. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery.
