SOUTH BEND - Alice S. Martinczak, 88, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 4:10 p.m., Thursday, June 21, 2012 in Hospice House. Alice was born on July 21, 1923 in South Bend to Alex and Marie (Rozycki) Szymanski and was a lifelong resident. On July 10, 1943 she married Clem T. Martinczak, who preceded her in death on November 28, 1971. Also preceding her in death were two daughters, Susan Ullery and Marcia Lacy; her sister, Ruth Rupert; her brother, Richard Szymanski; three brothers-in-law, Charles Rupert, Chet and Richard Martinczak; and one sister-in-law, Dolly Martinczak. Survivors include her daughter, Ilene (Mark) Koth of Lexington, SC; two sons-in-law, John Ullery and Jerry Lacy both of South Bend, IN; four grandchildren, Angela (Robert) Kinas, Todd (Nicole) Lacy, Matt (Anne) Koth, and Jason Koth; seven great-grandchildren, Sara Kinas, Jeremy Kinas, Shelby Kinas, Harrison Lacy, Jack Lacy, Coleman Lacy and Sasha Koth; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Szymanski of South Bend, IN and Alice Martinczak of Mishawaka, IN. Alice is also survived by many nieces & nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2012 in Saint Mary National Catholic Church. Alice's family would like to thank the staff at Sanctuary at St. Paul's and The Center for Hospice Care for the loving care they provided for Alice. Memorial contributions may be made to the church. Kaniewski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
