[N14498] Cleo V. Blosser
Nov. 4, 1920 - April 9, 2016
EDWARDSBURG - Cleo Viola (Caton) Blosser, 95 years old, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 9, 2016. She recently suffered serious complications of pneumonia and was working with the wonderful staff of Cass County Medical Care Facility, Cassopolis, to be able to go home again. She didn't give up, but her heart did. Cleo was born Nov. 4, 1920, to Edith (Cox) Caton and Ernest Foster Caton in Middlebury, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John W. Blosser, her son, John Ernest Blosser, two brothers, Leroy and Carter Caton, and a sister, Daisy (Caton) Stonehouse. She was a valued employee of Miles Laboratories/Bayer AG in Elkhart, IN, until her retirement after 40 years of service. As a longtime resident of Edwardsburg, Cleo was a good friend to many people and very involved in the community. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 365, Women of the Moose, Elkhart Chapter 73, and the Edwardsburg Presbyterian Church. Cleo enjoyed many athletic pursuits throughout her life, playing with the Miles Laboratories girls basketball team and their bowling team. She also enjoyed playing golf with the ladies of the Four Lakes Golf Club up until her 92nd year. She was proud to have walked the course until the effects of a heart attack had her switching to the cart. In the off season the lady's group would meet routinely at the Elkhart Moose for lunch and cards. Physical necessity slowed her down in her last years, but she still enjoyed competition at the card table and played several evenings a week in the community room at Edwardsburg Manor Apartments. Cleo is survived by her brother, Bernard Caton of Plant City, FL, and a sister, Shirley (Caton) Borg of Calimesa, CA, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She treasured every one. And we all will fondly remember her energy, generosity and kindness. Cremation has taken place. There will be a Memorial Service at a time and date to be announced later. Arrangements are by the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home. The inurnment will be beside her husband and son in Adamsville Cemetery. Published in South Bend Tribune on Apr. 13, 2016
