SOUTH BEND - Christ "The Greek" Lampos, 85, of Allen, TX, formerly of South Bend, IN, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2012. He was born on February 13, 1927, in Paliokastro, Greece, to Elias and Maroula (Caragiannis) Lampos. Christ moved from Greece to the United States with his family in October 1938. He lived in South Bend for 72 years, moving to Texas in January 2012.
He was employed with A.M. General for 24 1/2 years from May 1965 - September 1989. Christ once co-owned the former Lampos Bar on South Michigan Street in South Bend. He was a lifetime member (62 years) and former president of AHEPA, lifetime member of Chain O'Lakes Conservation Club, and a member of St. Andrew Greek Church. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and creating floral paintings which he gave as gifts to family and friends. Christ is survived by two daughters, Angeline (Ron) Finnigan of Naperville, IL, and Maria (Jim) Constantinos of Allen, TX; four grandchildren, Niki (David) Watson, Staci Constantinos, Amelia (James) Botsis and Nicholas Finnigan; and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Gus and Steve Lampos, and former wife, Niki. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Dallas, TX. Private graveside services and burial was held on Thursday, March 22, 2012, at Southlawn Cemetery in South Bend. The Kaniewski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew's Greek Orthodox Church in South Bend. Published in South Bend Tribune on March 23, 2012
