SOUTH BEND - John Jaworski, 96, formerly of South Bend, passed away on October 29th in the Timber Ridge Assisted Living Center in McKinleyville, California. John was born in South Bend on November 20, 1919, to the late Casimir and Josephine (Slaby) Jaworski. On June 11, 1943, in South Bend, he married the love of his life, Eleanor M. Mulderink, who preceded him in death on July 22, 2009, after 66 years together. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a BSE and an MA. John retired in 1982 from Woodrow Wilson Elementary and Lafayette Schools, where he served as principal for about 20 years. During his career as a teacher and then principal, he also worked at the Lydick Elementary and the Elmer Peak Elementary schools. John is survived by his sons, James Jaworski, MD, and his wife, Laura, of McKinleyville, California, and John Jaworski and two grandsons, Casimir Jaworski of McKinleyville, California, and Jason Jaworski of Indiana. He is also survived by siblings, Sylvester and Leo Jaworski and Helen Przybylinski and Veronica Weinkauf, all of South Bend.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, November 4th, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, from 12:30 PM until service time. A service celebrating John's life will be held at 2:00 PM in the funeral chapel, with Fr. Dave Ruppert officiating. He will be laid to rest at the St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger. The family kindly requests no flowers or memorial contributions. Published in South Bend Tribune on Nov. 3, 2016
