Patricia Rita Mester, 91, residing in South Bend, Indiana, passed away at 12:30 am Thursday, July 4, 2013 in Michiana Health & Rehabilitation. She was born at home on Brighton Street in Tottenville on August 2, 1921 to the late Frank and Naomi (McCarthy) Palmer. She attended St. Louis Academy on Main Street, and then Our Lady Help of Christians. After graduating from Tottenville High School, she enrolled at St. Catherine's School of Nursing, Brooklyn, from which she graduated in 1942. She worked as an R.N. at Marine Hospital and Richmond Memorial Hospital before moving to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1966. She then worked at Palms of Pasadena Hospital and several nursing homes in the St. Petersburg area before retiring. She moved to South Bend, Indiana in 2011.

Patricia was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Curran; as well as her second husband, Frank Mester, Jr. Surviving are sons, Joseph Mester of Atlanta, GA and Doug Mester of South Bend; grandchildren, Denise, Thomas, Mark and David; and great grandchildren, Christopher and Sarah.

There will be no funeral services at this time. Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.
