Jace R. Vargo
Dec. 16, 1993 - July 11, 2017
SOUTH BEND - Jace Richard Vargo, 23, of South Bend died unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 11th in Memorial Hospital. Jace was born December 16, 1993 in South Bend to Cheryl (Greulich) and the late Gary A. Vargo. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Samuel G. Vargo, an infant brother and his grandfather, Richard Greulich. He is survived by his mother, Cheryl G. Vargo; sister, Emma Vargo of South Bend; brother, Grant Vargo (Jessica) of South Bend; his maternal grandmother, Martha Greulich; and paternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Geri and Mike Hillebrand. Jace filled his 23 years with laughter, a contagious energy and zest for life. He had a remarkable gift for lifting the spirits of others, listened thoughtfully to their concerns and opinions. All who loved Jace appreciated his optimistic vision for the future, his work ethic, and the loyalty he displayed toward family and friends. He had an outgoing personality, an outward confidence, combined with a very sensitive nature and tender heart. These qualities drew people to him, in happy times, when in need of comfort or a good listener. The death seven weeks ago of his father was a profound loss to him, but he continued to ignore his own pain and sought to comfort his mother and siblings. The remainder of his family will forever feel the loss of his sunny, reassuring personality. As a child, Jace accepted Jesus as his Savior, and as an adult enjoyed deep theological discussion. His family members are grateful for the gift of salvation and eternal life, where he is now with beloved family members. The visor of his truck held his business card, on the back of which he had written Psalm 56:11, “In God I trust, I will not be afraid, for what can man do to me?” The family will receive friends in a celebration of Jace's life from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 17th in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Committal services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. In lieu of flowers the family requests your continued prayers only. Family and friends may leave email condolences at www.welsheimer.com. Published in South Bend Tribune on July 16, 2017
