MISHAWAKA - Ruth Borsodi, age 72, of Mishawaka, passed away Tuesday, June 22nd, in the comfort of her home surrounded by family after a brief but brave battle with melanoma cancer. She was born in Mishawaka on June 28th, 1944, the daughter of Joseph and Amelia Monica (Wolleh) Sheridan. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Jerry L. Borsod, & 4 children: daughter, Angie Borsodi, son, Jerry L. Borsodi II & wife, Jennifer, Amelia “Amy” Borsodi (Windisch) & husband, Brian, Amanda Borsodi (Phillips) and husband, Phillip. She is also survived by nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by a grandchild, Zachary Williams. Ruth graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1962 and attended college at Butler University where she earned a master's degree in education. She taught at St. Mary of the Assumption School in South Bend, and at St. Joseph Elementary in Mishawaka. Upon retirement from teaching she became a realtor. She was a longtime member of the Mishawaka Breakfast Optimist Club. Ruth loved to travel with her husband, and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. All friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of Ruth's life open house at Eberhart-Petro Municipal Golf Course in the clubhouse on Tuesday, June 28th from 4-8p.m., with prayer and life tribute service at 6:30 p.m. Elkhart Cremation Service has been entrusted with her care. In lieu of flowers, contributions for expenses would be appreciated and accepted at any Teacher Credit Union in the name of Ruth Borsodi Fund or donate to CureMelanoma.org.
