SOUTH BEND - Stefan E. Jankowski, 83 passed away December 22, 2010 in Hospice House. Mr. Jankowski is survived by daughter, Teresa (Alan) Delinski of North Liberty; son, John Jankowski of South Bend; sister, Stella Haak of San Marcos, CA and two nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, at Cathedral of St. Matthew, 1701 Miami, South Bend. Friends may visit from 4 - 8 p.m. Monday in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend, where a rosary will be said at 4:30 p.m.

SOUTH BEND - Stefan E. Jankowski, 83, residing in South Bend, IN passed away at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2010 in Hospice House, South Bend. He was born on December 16, 1927 in Warsaw, Poland to the late Wladyslaw and Emma (Neubaur) Jankowski. He was educated in Germany, and then later at a Trade School. He came to South Bend in 1956 where he remained his lifetime. On May 14, 1966 in South Bend, IN, he was united in marriage to Rita (Vitale) Jankowski. She preceded him in death on February 4, 1995. Also preceding him were two sisters, Zofie Jankowski and Wladyslawa Jankowski. Mr. Jankowski served his country honorably in the United States Army as a corporal from 1954-1956. He retired after 35 years as a tool and die maker for Alumni Tool & Die Company and worked at Coveleski Stadium from 1987-2009. He was an avid bowler and member of the Golden Gang at Chippewa Bowl. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Cathedral of St. Matthew. Mr. Jankowski enjoyed fishing. He lived for the love he received from his grandchildren and cherished the weekly conversations with his sister. Mr. Jankowski is survived by his daughter, Teresa (Alan) Delinski of North Liberty, IN; a son, John Jankowski of South Bend, IN; grandchildren, Joseph, Cecilia, Emma and Louis Delinski and Ashley, Sarah and Coltan Jankowski; sister, Stella Haak of San Marcos, CA and two nephews, Bogdan Haak of San Diego, CA and Edward Haak of Fairfield, VT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2010 in the Cathedral of St. Matthew, 1701 Miami Street. South Bend. Entombment will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend. The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, where a Rosary will be said at 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Stefan Jankowski may be offered to The Center for Hospice Care, 111 Sunnybrook Ct. South Bend, IN 46637 or to Memorial Hospital Leighton Heart and Vascular Center, 615 N. Michigan St. South Bend, IN 46601.
