Stephen James Jeschke, age 79 of Fremont, formerly of Mishawaka, Indiana and St. Joseph, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at his home. Stephen was born on October 1, 1943 in St. Joseph, Michigan to Emil Richard and Ida Martha (Reich) Jeschke and graduated from St. Joseph High School. Stephen joined the United States Army Reserve and was called to active duty during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge. Stephen later began a career in the automotive industry and worked as a manager in the purchasing department of Bendix in South Bend, Indiana and AM General in Mishawaka until his retirement. Stephen loved all types of sports and played softball for many years and was a long time Chicago Cubs fan. Stephen also enjoyed cars and took immaculate care of his vehicles throughout his lifetime. Stephen is survived by his daughter, Kym (Robert Byrne) Jeschke of Newaygo; son, Todd (Jackie) Jeschke of Marshall, Michigan; his brother, Rex (Judy) Jeschke of Minnesota; and many loving friends. Following Stephen's wishes cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time. Friends may consider memorial contributions to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
