ELKHART - Edward E. Pukrop, 78, of Elkhart, IN, passed away on Sunday October 26, 2008, in Valley View Healthcare Center, Elkhart. He was born on March 12, 1930, in South Bend, IN, to the late Edward, Sr. and Harriet (Jurek) Pukrop and was a lifelong area resident. On June 24, 1972, he married Ann Jeffers, who survives. Along with his wife of 36 years, he is survived by two sons, Michael of Indianapolis, IN and James of Lafayette, IN. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dolores Gray. Mr. Pukrop worked for Indiana Bell-ATT Communications as a Digital Technician for 37 years, before retiring in 1990. He was a United States Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Elkhart. Ed considered himself a lucky guy. He savored his childhood, enjoyed the Navy, liked his work, appreciated his marriage, loved his sons, and relished retirement. He had a zest for life and many friends along the way.
