Glorida (Sandy) Kurzhal, 82, of North Liberty passed away on Tuesday December 9th at home with her loving family by her side. She was born on March 4, 1932 in South Bend to the late Dale and Ida (Miller) Worthington. Sandy and her husband recently moved back to the Michiana area coming from Syracuse, IN where they lived for twenty four years.
On June 4, 1949 in North Liberty as the former Glorida Worthington, she married John Kurzhal, who survives.
Sandy is also survived by two daughters; Kay (Jack) Lambert of North Liberty and Peggy (Leo) Shafer of South Bend, one son; John (Linda) Kurzhal of Mishawaka, two sisters; Illa (Bill) Kurzhal of North Liberty and Bonnie Brattain of South Bend. She is also survived by five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, six step- great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. She was preceded in death by one grandson; Dennis John Kurzhal. Sandy belonged to different clubs and organizations throughout her life. She enjoyed decorating her homes, cooking, reading, and traveling. She spent her last 20 years wintering in Avon Park, FL. Visitation will be Saturday December 13th from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Hanley and Sons “Southwest Chapel” Funeral Home located at 23421 State Road 23 / West Ireland Rd South Bend. Services will follow starting at 1:00 PM in the funeral home with Rev. Donald Johnson officiating. A private family burial will follow. The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice Care and also Always Best Care Services, and Jenny, Anna, Kelly, Heather, and Rev. Donnie for all their help. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all memorial contributions be made to the Heartland Hospice Care located at 826 W. Edison Rd. Mishawaka, IN. 46545.
