John A. Nyikos, 20, of Chamberlain Drive, South Bend, Ind., died at 2:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2001. He was born Oct. 1, 1980, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. Mr. Nyikos was currently attending Indiana University at Bloomington. John is survived by his parents, John R. Nyikos and Susan K. (Wharton) Nyikos, both of South Bend; his brother, Andrew Ryan Nyikos of South Bend; paternal grandmother, Evelyn Nyikos of South Bend; five uncles, Larry Wharton of Columbus, Ohio, Jeffery Nyikos and Richard Nyikos, both of South Bend, Michael Nyikos of Texas and Joseph Nyikos of California; an aunt, Cindy Black of South Bend; and by numerous cousins. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. John was a graduate of Washington High School where he graduated with honors. He was a former member of the Washington High School baseball team and a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity at Indiana University, Bloomington. John had many close friends for whom he would do just about anything to help them. He was a kind, loving and thoughtful person and will be missed by many people, especially by his mom, dad and brother.
