James Vincent Martino, 78 years old, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at the Center for Hospice Care in Mishawaka, IN. Jim was born in Rochester, New York, on February 13, 1944, to the late Louis and Sadie (Testaferrata) Martino.While earning a business degree at the University of Notre Dame, Jim met the love of his life. On November 6, 1965, Jim and Cleopatra (Colyvas) were united in marriage at Saint Andrew Greek Orthodox Church in South Bend, IN. Jim is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Cleo; their two sons, James Martino, Jr., of New Orleans, LA; and Michael (Kathleen) Martino of Pittsburgh, PA; Jim’s beloved grandchildren, Kailyn (Kirkland) Pearce, Sarah Martino, and Isabella Martino; and his sister-in-law, Andrianna (Paul) West of Portland, Oregon. Faith and family were the cornerstones of Jim’s life. He was a loyal friend, avid fisherman, dedicated youth baseball coach and Cub Scout leader, and enthusiastic supporter of Notre Dame football. After a career as a systems analyst and medical practice administrator, Jim moved to Granger, IN, where he retired in 2008. For forty years, Jim owned and operated Tamiron Sporting Goods, featuring his patented fishing lures. He continued to have ideas for new and improved products until his passing.The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Matthew Misner and his team at the Center for Hospice Care, for their dedication, faith, compassionate care and warm hearts in guiding Jim on his final journey. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 17, 2022 from 1:00-3:00pm at Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN, where a rosary offered at 1:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial, will be celebrated on Monday, July 18, 2022 at 12:00pm at Saint Thérèse, Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 N. Ironwood Road, South Bend. Rev. Edward Ondrako, OFM Conv., will officiate. Friends may also visit with the family one hour prior to Mass. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jim’s name to Saint Thérèse, Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 N. Ironwood Road, South Bend, IN 46635; or Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.Online condolences may be left for the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com
