MISHAWAKA - Clare Asher, 99, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Monday, January 4, 2016. Clare was born on November 22, 1916, in South Bend, to Michael and Veronica (Andrassy) Versceg. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Zella Bellmon, Julie Stine; and a son, George Willis Asher Jr. On September 16, 1939, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, she married George Willis Asher. He preceded her in death on June 22, 1975. Surviving are children, Mary Clare (Richard) Witham of Thousand Oaks, CA, Julie Lonie of Simi Valley, CA, Hilary (Tamara) Asher of Mishawaka, Andrea (George) Misner of Mishawaka and Jennifer (Mark) Rubin of Encino, CA; her daughter-in-law, Carole Asher of Sacramento, CA; 20 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Clare worked as a Realtor for 20 years. She worked for Doolittle Real Estate and Cressy and Everett before she retired. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, January 13, at 10 a.m., with visitation one hour prior in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. Terry Fisher officiating. Inurnment will follow at Fairview Catholic Cemetery, Mishawaka. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Hahn Funeral Home, Mishawaka. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice Foundation Supporting Center for Hospice Care: South Bend-Elkhart-Plymouth, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
