MISHAWAKA - John E. Michels, 75, passed away at home on Thursday, July 20, 2017. John was born on April 12, 1942 to John “Jack” and Martha (Nix) Michels. On September 23, 1961 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka he married the former Carol Reavis. She preceded him in death on July 7, 2009. Surviving are four children, John “Chuck” Michels of South Bend and Ken Michels of Mishawaka and Jeff (Tracy) Michels of Walkerton and Amy Michels of Mishawaka; two grandchildren, Brookeann Michels and Brayden Michels; a greatgrandchild, Bryson Michels; a sister, Helen (Alan) Winston of St. Peters, MO and his mother-in-law, Betty J. Reavis. John worked as a Machinist for Dodge Manufacturing and in the Warehouse for AT&T before he retired. He was an avid White Sox fan and Bears fan. John enjoyed golf and bowling. He was a member of the BK Club in Mishawaka. The most important thing in John's life was his family. He will truly be missed by family and friends, but never forgotten. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 23 from 2 to 6 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, July 24 at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in John's name to the Clark Fund at Stanley Clark School, 3123 Miami Street, South Bend, IN 46614.
