Costek J "Ted" Dembinski, 79, of Jones Road, Berrien Springs, Michigan died following a brief illness at 3:01 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2006, in Lakeland Hospital, Niles. Mr. Dembinski was born on February 21, 1926, in South Bend, Indiana, to Leon and Clementine (Bojaski) Dembinski. Ted had lived in Berrien Springs for 28 years, coming from South Bend. He was orphaned and schooled at Saint Vincent villa in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Mr. Dembinski retired in 1991 as an Engineering Consultant from A.M. General in Mishawaka, Indiana. He was a former employee of Bendix Corporation and Roth Plating, both in South Bend. Ted was an independent engineering consultant for Cummins Motors in Columbus, Indiana and Benteler Production in Goshen, Indiana. Ted was a member of Saint Mary Catholic Church in Niles. In 1996, as a member of the Saint Mary's Choir, he sang for Pope John Paul II in Rome. Ted was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy. He was also a member of American Legion Post #26 in Niles and the Knights of Columbus, where he was a Grand Knight. On September 4, 1948, in South Bend, he married the former Lorranine R Hes, who survives. Mr. Dembinski is also survived by their two daughters, Patricia (Ken) Rose of Niles and Christine (Ben) Hahaj of Berrien Springs; three sons, Theodore Raymond Dembinski of Niles, Fredrick Frank (Ethel) Dembinski of Berrien Springs, and Daniel Anthony Dembinski of Lansing Michigan; sixteen grandchildren; and a sister, Mildred Armentrout of Granger, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his son, Edward John Dembinski; and brother, Raymond Dembinski. A Mass of Christian Burial for Costek "Ted" Dembinski will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2006, in Saint Mary Catholic Church in Niles, with the Rev. Joseph McCormick, O.S.A. officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Niles and will conclude with Full Military Honors by American Legion Post #51, Buchanan. The family will receive relatives and friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, in Halbritter Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Mary Catholic Church.
