Ila Marian Palmer Alwine, 95, of Goshen, passed away Tuesday, May 11 at The Maples at Waterford Crossing. She was born August 31, 1925 in Mishawaka to Clyde and Kathryn (Chappell) Palmer. On September 24, 1948, she married Fred Warren Alwine in Ligonier. He died July 28, 1988. Survivors include three children, Sandra (Steve) Huber of Goshen, Steve (Lisa) Alwine of Lake Worth, Florida and Scott (Robin Collins) Alwine of Elkhart; and nine grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Betty Kaufman, Carol Clayton, William Palmer and Ellen Thompson. A faithful servant of God, she was loved for her generous and gentle heart. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and her hobbies included gardening and bird watching. A private graveside service was held at Elkhart Prairie Cemetery. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Jefferson Community Church at 12 noon followed by lunch and fellowship until 3 pm.
