SOUTH BEND - Eugene J. Chrzanowski, 80, of South Bend, passed away Friday morning, February 12, 2010, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. "Gene" was born December 17, 1929, in South Bend, a son of the late Leon and Irene (Ridjoskoski) Chrzanowski. He was a graduate of Central High School in South Bend. Gene lived most of his life in South Bend where his employment was as a truck dispatcher. For 19 years he lived in San Leandro, California, where he was an apartment manager. Gene was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka and American Legion Post 357. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing and going to casinos. He was fond of animals, especially dogs. On November 19, 1966, Gene married Geraldine Arpasi, who survives. Other surviving family members include three sons, Michael, Andrew and Jon Chrzanowski; two stepchildren, Daniel (Linda) Wojciechowski Jr. and Debbra (Bill) Lambie; six grandchildren, Jennifer Wojciechowski, Daniel Wojciechowski III, Lisa Troup, Laurie Komlanc, Lisa Logan and Billy Lambie; seven great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Jean Chrzanowski; and two nephews. Gene was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Lambie; a brother, Tom Chrzanowski; and by a stepsister, Kathleen Stafford. Friends may spend time with Gene's family on Monday from 10 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. in the Thallemer, Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 West Third Street, Mishawaka. The Rosary will be prayed at 11:45 a.m. followed by funeral services at noon in the funeral home, with Rev. Terry Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
