Theresa Elias (March 29, 1914 - Jan. 18, 1999)

SOUTH BEND - Theresa (Nemeth) Elias, 84, formerly of Bulla Road, passed away following an illness on Monday, Jan. 18, in Regency Place. Mrs. Elias was born in South Bend, Ind., on March 29, 1914, to Michael and Anna (Kompar) Nemeth. She retired from the University of Notre Dame Food Service Department in June 1979 after 23 years of service. Mrs. Elias was formerly a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church. On May 19, 1931, in Berrien Springs, Mich., she married George Elias, who passed away on April 8, 1988. She was also preceded in death by her son, George R. ''Dick'' Elias on Feb. 1, 1992. She is survived by her two daughters, Theresa Gatlin of Roseland, Ind., and Rosalie Torzewski of Granger, Ind.; a sister, Mary Welch of Cypress, Calif.; and by five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday in the McGann Funeral Homes, University Area Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Road, South Bend, with Rev. Donald Guertin, C.S.C., officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Cancer Society.
