[N9168] Margie Kish
Oct. 5, 1933 - Feb. 21, 2015
MISHAWAKA - Margie was born on October 5, 1933, to the late Peter and Ann Elizabeth LaCava. Margie had a beautiful voice and started singing at an early age in her family's band. As a young girl, she worked at her family's restaurant, the Casa Maria. Margie was a varsity cheerleader for four years at Mishawaka High School. She met the love of her life, Jim Kish, and married him on November 13, 1954, in St. Monica's Church. As a young wife and mother Margie sang in different bands and worked at Indiana Bell. As her family grew she decided to be a stay-at-home mom and loved that role. She doted on her family and loved volunteering at her children's schools which she was still doing at the age of 80! She received a Lifetime PTA Achievement Award in 1996 and is on the MHS Wall of Fame. She enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, Jim, and even visited Ireland, Hawaii, England, Italy, Monte Carlo, Paris, Switzerland, Alaska and Hong Kong. She was a lifetime Notre Dame fan and was a season ticket holder for women's basketball games. Margie, affectionately known as "Nana" to her grandchildren, loved entertaining family and friends at her pool, cooking, making her famous caramels, attending her grandchildren's sporting events, riding her bike, playing solitaire, doing word search puzzles, shopping, gardening, watching old movies, attending MHS alumni luncheons, and talking on the phone to her sister Rosie. Her grandchildren were her pride & joy and she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the following organizations: Hannah Lindahl Children's Museum, PTA, Tri Kappa, Mother-of-Twins Club, BK Ladies Auxiliary, D'Amici's Club, MHS Alumni Association and St. Bavo Church. Margie is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Jim; children: Mike Kish, Kim Kish, Jamie (Mark) Ryan, Pete (Kris) Kish, Paula (Tod) Meersman, Roxy (Brian) Artusi; grandchildren: Lindsey (Rich) Hanback, Lisa (John) Saylor, Mike (Crystal) Gordon, Jeremy, Matt and Keegan Ryan; Alex (Caitie) and Drew Kish, Mitchell and Dani Meersman, Grayden and Grace Artusi; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Rosie Marie Robinson; brother, Peter LaCava Jr.; and brother-in-law, Ernie
