Marilyn Marie Strebinger, 83, residing in South Bend, entered into her eternal life with the Lord Monday, July 30, 2012. She was born in South Bend on June 26, 1929 to the late Alfred and Clara (Scheibelhut) Bill, and remained a lifelong area resident. On May 21, 1949 in St. Patrick's Catholic Church in South Bend, Marilyn married Robert C. Strebinger, who survives. In addition to her loving husband of 63 years, Robert, she is survived by their children, Annette M. Heminger (Robert), David J. Strebinger (Patti), Marcia McMillen (Edward), Paul E. Strebinger, Kevin S. Strebinger (Kay), Carol E. James (Philip) and Sharon Rose; nineteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother, Rev. Robert L. Bill, CSC and her sister, Sr. M. Clare Alfred CSC. Marilyn was preceded in death by three grown sons, James, Brian and Mark as well as an infant son, John Strebinger. Marilyn retired from Fannie May Candies after more than 25 years. She was enshrined in the SURE-GEL Hall of Fame in 1998. As an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Marilyn was a member of C.F.M., Curcio, CORE, and the Altar and Rosary Society. She supported the bake sales and bazaars with countless coffee cakes, soups, breads, jams and jellies, pickles and relishes. She was "Mom" to everyone and her policy was "Hugs are free to all and there is always room for one more". Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday, August 2, 2012 in Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1050 Wilber Street, South Bend, IN. Graveside services and burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday, August 1, 2012 in Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 pm. Friends may also visit from 9:00 - 10:00 am Thursday in church prior to mass.
