MISHAWAKA - Sherril Ann Mirkin, beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2017 at her home in Mishawaka, Indiana. Born in Indianapolis and raised in Chester, Illinois, Sherril met her husband, Sam, at Indiana University at Bloomington. They raised their family in South Bend.

Sherril graduated from Indiana University Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. in English literature, and received her Masters in elementary education from St. Mary's College. She worked as an elementary school teacher at Maple Lane School in South Bend and later as a special education instructor at Darden School. She was an active member of Temple Beth-El, Questers, and other organizations. Sherril was an avid reader and excellent cook. She loved to play bridge and mah jong. She was a world traveler who visited six continents. Sherril and Sam were happily married for 64 years with two children: David (Lene) Mirkin of Granger and Kathy (Gilbert) Mirkin of Chicago, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Sherril was a beautiful woman who treated everyone with love and warmth. Funeral services will be at 11:00am, Tuesday, October 17, at Temple Beth El with Rabbi Karen Companez officiating. Burial will follow at the Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery, Mishawaka.
