Harriet G. (Teusink) Van Putten, better known as ""Jerry"", age 96, passed away, Monday July 30, 2018. The daughter of Henry and Anna (Derks) Teusink, Jerry was the youngest of 9 children. She grew up on the Teusink farm in Macatawa, Michigan. As the youngest of the children Jerry was billed as a 12 year old entertainer. Jerry met the love of her life, Gordon Van Putten, when she fell off of her bike while riding at the beach and Gordon helped her up. They married and had two sons, Thomas G. and David M. Van Putten. Gord and Jerry spent their life together in Holland sharing 74 wonderful years of marriage until Gordon passed away in 2012. Both Jerry and Gord were actively involved in the Holland Community. She was an active, lifelong member of Central Park Reformed Church. In 2013 Mrs. Van Putten moved to Hubbard Hill Retirement Community in Elkhart, Indiana, to be closer to her son David and his spouse Jeanne. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Anna Teusink; brothers, sisters and in-laws. Jerry is survived by her cherished sons, Thomas G. and Suzanne Van Putten, David M. and Jeanne Van Putten; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nephews. Visitation will be from 5:30p.m to 8:00p.m., Friday August 3, at the Dykstra Funeral Home - Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street, Holland. A funeral service will be held 11:00a.m., Saturday August 4, at Central Park Reformed Church, 614 Myrtle Ave., Holland, MI. Rev. Kevin Kleinheksel officiating. Interment will be in Graafschap Cemetery in Holland.Memorial contributions can be made to Central Park Reformed Church, 614 Myrtle Ave., Holland, MI 49423.
