LAPORTE - Mrs. Beverly L. Weiss, 85, passed away at 6:35 AM July 8, 2012 at IU Health LaPorte Hospital. She was born August 26, 1926 in LaPorte to Charles and Annette (Zila) Olson and lived in LaPorte since 1982, coming from South Bend, IN, where she had resided from 1951 to 1982. Beverly was a homemaker. On May 25, 1946, in LaPorte, she married James F. Weiss, who survives. She was a member of St Peter Catholic Church. Beverly was a 1944 graduate of LaPorte High School, a member of Girl Reserves and Cabinet member her senior year, was active in class reunion organization, past president of the German Auxiliary Club (DFV) in South Bend, a member of LaPorte Hospital Auxiliary, member of St. Joan of Arc Circle of St. Peter Catholic Rosary Society, and a member of the St. Peter Catholic Church Funeral Committee. She leaves behind husband, James F. Weiss; two daughters, Linda (Bill) Wobio of Davenport, FL, and Jan Weiss of Mishawaka, IN; four grandchildren, Kelley Wobio, Tom Wobio, Emily Wakeman and Blair Whorwell; two great-grandsons, Benjamin Wakeman and Samuel Wobio; one great-granddaughter, Payton Eisele; several nieces, and extended family, Dennis, Luann and Kent Whorwell. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Charlotte Olson. Visitation will be from 3-8 PM (LaPorte time) today, July 10, 2012, and Wednesday, July 11, 8:30-9:30 AM, at Essling Funeral Home. Rosary will be at 4:00 PM (LaPorte time) today, July 10, 2012, at Essling Funeral Home, with Deacon Chris Hawkins officiating. A funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM (LaPorte time), July 11, 2012, at St Peter Catholic Church, with Rev Dennis Teles officiating. Burial will be at Pine Lake Cemetery following the Mass. Essling Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
