SOUTH BEND - David P. Maciejewski, 69, Peru, formerly of South Bend, died at 11:45 p.m. Friday, October 10, 2008, in St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo. He was born June 26, 1939, in South Bend, Indiana, the son of Walter and Frances H. (Kramaczewski) Maciejewski. On November 16, 1963, in South Bend, he married Marilyn T. Miller, who survives. He attended school in South Bend. David enlisted in the United States Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Casa Grande during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He completed his education while serving in the Navy. He retired from the South Bend Water Works in 2000 after 25 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Post 284 in South Bend. He was an avid race car fan who enjoyed building model cars. Surviving in addition to his wife Marilyn of Peru is one son, Dave Michael Maciejewski, and his wife, Rhonda M. of Peru; two daughters, Vicki L. Csenar and husband, Jim of Indianapolis, and Becki A. Maciejewski of Peru; six grandchildren, Sgt. Christopher Csenar, USMC, Carrie Csenar, Ferris Jones, Jason Willis, Michael D. Maciejewski and his wife, Jennifer, and Jon A. Maciejewski; three great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Sherri Bennett and husband, Tom of South Bend, and Debbie Van Durmen of Mishawaka. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by an infant brother, Michael Alan Maciejewski. In keeping with David's wishes, he will be cremated and a private family memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Shirley and Stout Funeral Home, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo. Deacon Ron Morrow will officiate with military honors provided by the United States Navy and the Kokomo VFW military rites team. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Hospital Foundation, 1907 W. Sycamore St., Kokomo, IN 46901. Online condolences may be sent to www.shirleyandstout.com.
