WALKERTON - Stephen J. Bruski, 58, died July 31, 2015 in Walkerton, IN after a courageous battle with cancer. Steve was born November 3, 1956 in Flint, MI to Fred and Anna M. (Zehner) Bruski. He married Lizbeth Pease on July 6, 1985 at the Grace Episcopal Church in Lockport, NY. Steve graduated from DeSales Catholic High School in 1974. He went on to study pharmacy at the State University of New York at Buffalo, graduating in 1982 as a registered pharmacist. He started his pharmacy career at Nuclear Pharmacy, Inc. in Chicago, IL. At the time of his marriage, his employment shifted to Starke Memorial Hospital in Knox, IN as a staff pharmacist and he was eventually promoted to director. Later, Steve held positions as staff pharmacist at Memorial Hospital of South Bend, LaPorte Hospital and Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center at both Plymouth and Mishawaka campuses. While in high school, Steve achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He continued to be active in Boy Scouts of America as the Scoutmaster for Troop 4 in Lockport, NY and Troop 13 in Knox, IN. Steve enjoyed a lifelong love of astronomy. He shared his enthusiasm and passion for the stars with everyone he met, often offering to take his telescope to the backyard of a friend and show them the wonders of the universe. Steve frequently traveled near and far to attend star parties, eclipses and various other astronomical events. He was a frequent listener of WVPE, the local National Public Radio station. Steve found peace and solace at The Bah '¡ House of Worship in Wilmette, IL. His prayer life of recent years was often based on the Bah '¡ book of prayer. Steve is survived by his wife of thirty years, Liz Pease and their daughter, Savanna, of Indianapolis. He is survived by his mother, Anna M. Bruski, of Lockport, NY; two brothers, Paul Bruski (Linda Ferdinand) of Holland, NY and John Bruski (Ruth) of Littleton, CO; and two sisters, Mary Bruski of Sanborn, NY and Patricia Schaffer (Gregory) of Whitehouse, OH. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Cindy Goehle of Lockport, NY and brother-in-law, Chris Pease of the Dominican Republic. He will be missed by several nieces and nephews as well as several great-nephews and great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Caitlin Rebecca Bruski and his father, Fred J. Bruski. Visitation will take place Friday, August 7, 2015 at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel beginning at 12:00 p.m. ET until 3:00 p.m. ET, to be followed immediately by a brief Celebration of Life/ Sharing of Memories.
