SOUTH BEND - Dorothy A. Kapsa, 94, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014, in Miller's Merry Manor. Dorothy was born February 18, 1920, in South Bend, to the late Ignatius and Josephine (Rachmad-zinski) Golichowski. On June 28, 1947, Dorothy was married in Holy Family Catholic Church to Thaddeus "Ted" Kapsa, who preceded her in death on March 18, 1996. Dorothy was also preceded in death by brothers, Albert Golichowski and Edwin Kent; and sister, Eleanor Golichowski. Survivors of Dorothy include her children, Reynold, Jack (Mary), Kevin (Ginny) Kapsa and Rebecca (Ron) Higgins, all of South Bend; six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; and brother, Eugene Henning of Covina, CA. In 1947, Dorothy retired from the Torrington Company. She was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church. Dorothy was a seamstress, quilt maker and gardener. Dorothy especially enjoyed serving her family great meals. She was always concerned for her family's well-being, and most of all she was the best babysitter ever. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Dorothy at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 25, 2014, in Holy Family Catholic Church, with a one hour visitation prior to the Mass. Burial at St. Joseph Cemetery. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., is assisting the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, 56405 Mayflower Rd., South Bend, IN 46619; or Harbor Light Hospice, 4330 Miami Street, South Bend, IN 46614.
