[N31902] Pierson Scott Sult
October 2, 2007 ~ April 10, 2022 (age 14)

The world lost a wonderful smile. Our family lost our hero. Pierson Scott Sult, 14, of South Bend passed away peacefully the morning of April 10, 2022. Pierson was born October 2, 2007 in South Bend, Indiana to Todd and Katrina (Koehler) Sult who survive him, along with his three brothers; Carson Sult, Jackson Sult, and Mickleson Sult Pierson is also survived by his Paternal Grandparents, Scott and Robyn Sult; and his Maternal Grandparents, Nancy and Greg Bogaert, and Bob and Cindy Koehler. Pierson was proceeded in death by his Great-Grandparents Ken and Patricia Sult, Jack Coleman, and Ted and Helen Koehler. Pierson showed us how to live life and how to fight for it. He put everyone- from family members to friends to a lengthy list of medical staff- at ease with his humor and gentle demeanor. “SultyBoi”, as he was known to the majority of his friends, played games with the same grit and determination that he fought cancer with. You could often hear him yelling into his headset battling with friends the same way he battled daily to defy all odds for 5 years. His love for the 4th of July might have been as strong as his love for shoes. Baseball was a complete joy for him to play and watch. Most summer days you could find him playing baseball at East Side, and then rushing home to play culdesac baseball with his CPE friends, especially Ryder and Ryan, with whom he loved like his own brothers. Eagle Lake was another special place for Pierson. He loved searching for frogs in the pond, ice fishing, and tubing. His love of baseball was a strong comparison to his love for his cats, especially Oakley. Siesta Key, FL was his happy place. He loved the sun on his face and the salt of the ocean on his lips. Pierson’s determination, positive attitude, and his enduring caring heart exceeded all our expectations from our son’s short lived life. His 5 year battle defied all odds. He never stopped fighting, and always took it “One Day at a Time”. Pierson made a stranger feel like a lifelong friend just from his radiant smile. We will never forget the incredible depth of his spirit, his quick wit, and his wonderful, caring animal loving nature. We know you are ringing your final bell in Heaven, we heard you in our hearts and will carry that with us always. We hope you have unlimited coins, are surrounded by animals, and eating all the spicy chips that you can eat. Scope out the best ball parks in Heaven, we will play catch one day again. He made us proud. We will miss our hero. “I Love you Buddy” Services for Pierson will be held April 13, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church 52553 Fir Rd, Granger, IN 46530 with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
