THREE RIVERS - Leo R. Chodzinski, Jr., 87, formerly of South Bend, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016, in Three Rivers Hospital. Leo was born April 23, 1928, in South Bend, to the late Leo and Angelina Chodzinski. Leo married Mary (Tucker) Chodzinski; she preceded him in death on May 1, 2000. Leo was also preceded in death by a brother and sisters, Alex Chodzinski, Celia Edwards, Verna “Mickey” Barkley and Dorothy Luczynski.Survivors of Leo include his children, Judy (Jay) McClain of Three Rivers, MI, Chris (Clent) Edgil of South Bend and Linda Smith of South Bend; sisters, Catherine (Bernie) Kloski and Irene Karmolinski, both of South Bend; 7 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Leo honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War earning a Purple Heart medal. Through the years, Leo was employed at Studebaker's, American Van Lines, and the Bendix Corporation. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 357. Leo was very artistic; he enjoyed building yard ornaments. He loved the holidays and dressed for every occasion. Leo played Santa Claus for many years. Most of all, he was very family oriented, enjoying taking the family to picnics, parades and carnivals. Visitation for Leo is 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Wednesday, January 20, 2016, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., with a Rosary to be prayed at 5:30 pm. A Funeral Ceremony will be held Wednesday at 6:00 pm in the funeral home.
