Alma Schmidt was born in Bainbridge Township, Michigan and was the daughter of Herman and Anna Skibbe. She married her first husband, Henry Krieger, on May 28, 1927 in Sawyer, Michigan. Henry died in 1947 and Alma then married Fred Schmidt. He died in 1991.Alma was the mother of seven children: Vernon, Ronald, Melvin, Wayne, Joyce, Nerma, and a baby that died at birth. She lived to see 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
