South Bend - Verna “Mickey” Barkley, 86, passed away at 4:50pm on Friday, December 2, 2011 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Verna was born on October 15, 1925 in South Bend to the late Leo and Angeline (Szotinski) Chodzinski. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Cecelia Edwards and Dorothy Luczynski; brother, Alex Chodzinski; and by her niece, Pat Edwards; and nephews, Ronald Kloski and Dan Luczynski. She is survived by her husband, Ernest Barkley; many nieces and nephews, Larry (Carol) Chodzinski of Granger, Wayne (Patty) Chodzinski of Mishawaka, Dennis (Darlene) Chodzinski of TX, Bob (Linda) Edwards of GA, Greg (Debbie) Edwards of FL, Chris (Clent) Edgil of South Bend, Linda Smith of South Bend, Judy (Jay) McClain of Three Rivers, MI, Michael Kloski of New Carlisle, Tom Luczynski, Gary (Annette)Karmolinski of Niles and Tina (George) Hunter of South Bend; numerous great nieces and nephews; two sisters, Catherine (Bernard) Kloski of South Bend and Irene Karmolinski of South Bend; and by her brother, Leo Chodzinski of South Bend.
Mickey was a wonderful cook, she was known for her potato salad. She enjoyed playing the lottery and watching her favorite shows. Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 8:00pm Monday, December 5, 2011 in ST. JOSPEH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., South Bend. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 10:00am on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 in the Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net
