Lifelong South Bend resident Stella Ratajczak, 80, died January 6, 2000, following a lengthy illness. All of the love she created is still here and will forever live on within the hearts of everyone she touched and nurtured. Death ends a life; Stella Ratajczak's love is how she will always stay alive with her family and friends. Stella was born June 23, 1919, in Du Bois, Pennsylvania, to parents Casimer and Michalina Moras, and mover to South Bend, in 1920. She worked at Roach Appleton (RACO) for 24 years, retiring in 1981. Stella was a member of the Polish Women's Alliance of America, American Legion Auxiliary Unit #357, and St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Stella was married to he devoted husband, Louis F. Ratajczak, on April 27, 1940. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1966. She is survived by three children, Sharon Wirag, Susan Flores and Paul Ratajczak; two grandchildren, Deborah Wirag and Brian Ratajczak; one great-grandchild, Darniel Wirag; a son-in-law, J. Robert Wirag; and a daughter-in-law, Katherine Ratajczak; three sisters, Lillian Leuthold, Mary Klimek and Stephanie Morris. Stella was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stephanie Wirag, who died in 1995; and her siblings Joseph, Edward (whitey), Casimer (Butch), Chester and John Moras; and by a sister Helen Gish. Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be said at 4:30 p.m. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Ct. South Bend, IN 46637.

Stella T. Ratajczak, 80, of Scenic Drive, died Thursday in Hospice House of St. Joseph County. Sruvivors include two daughters, Sharon Wirag and Susan Flores, both of Austin, Texas; a son Paul of Calabasas, Calif.; and three sisters, Lillian Leuthold, and Stephanie Morris, both of Mishawaka, and Mary Klimek of South Bend. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Adalabet Catholic Church. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road where a rosary will be said at 4:30 p.m.
