John R. Turk

SOUTH BEND - John R. Turk, 81, passed away at 9:15 am Wednesday, January 28, in his residence. John was born on December 24, 1927 in South Bend to John and Blanche (Michalski) Turk. Mr. Turk retired in 1992 from the Indiana Toll Road where he was employed for 14 years. He also had been employed by Associates and Rink Riverside Printing. John was a member of Our Lady of Hungary Church, and was a former member of the St. Joe Men's Club and the Associates Men's Club. On June 20, 1953 in South Bend John married the former Elsie Borsodi who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Roseann (Christopher) Grattan and Christine (Alan) Nemeth both of South Bend; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Kenny) Jones, Nicole Nemeth, and Matthew Nemeth; two great-grandchildren, Brooke and Lacie; three brothers, Norbert (Barbara) Turczynski of New Carlisle, Robert (Pat) Turk of South Bend and Eugene (Linda) Turczynski of South Bend; and two sisters Joan (Sy) Siade of Elkhart and Barbara (Bill) Ford of South Bend. John was preceded in death by a son-in-law John Braunsdorf, a brother, Ervin Turk and four sisters, Dolores Polak, Margaret Bergman, Virginia Ciesielski, and Maryann Turczynski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday, January 31, in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 today in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue where a rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm.
