NORTH LIBERTY, FORMERLY of GROVERTOWN-Daniel Kenneth Matusiak Sr., 87, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the Center for Hospice Care, South Bend, IN. Dan was born April 30, 1932 in Stevens Point, WI to Walter and Helen (Fabisak) Matusiak and lived in the area for 54 years, coming from Hobart, IN. On October 22, 1955 in Gary, IN, he was married to the former Vivian D. Cohut, who preceded him in death in 2012. He was also preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include one daughter, Cindy (Drew) Finley of Williamsburg, VA; one son, Daniel Matusiak Jr. of Koontz Lake; five grandchildren, Chad Matusiak, Leah (Scott) Hollman, Kassie (Frank) Lonigro, Nathan (Genise) Finley and Joshua (Jamie) Finley; nine great-grandchildren, Ayden, Ollie, Spencer, Jaxen, Kasen, Skylar, Gavin, Tressie and Coraline; one brother, Walter (Claire) Matusiak of Hebron, IN; and one sister, Mary Ann Hofferth of Chapin, SC. Dan was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the American Legion National. He was a retired pipefitter with Chicago Pipefitters Local #597. A graveside service will be held Friday, October 18, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. EDT at Grovertown Cemetery, Grovertown, IN. Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake is handling arrangements.
