In 1881, in Poland, Catherine Kubazewski, born 1853 (sic?)* to Thomas & Michelina Mazana Kubazewski, married Boleslaus Mnichowski, born 1856 (sic?)* to Adalbert & Agnes Nowak Mnichowski (as transcribed in the Poznan Marriage Indexing Project).
According to the 1900 federal census record of South Bend, Indiana, Boleslaw Mnichowski and his wife Catherine had been married 18 years and she had had seven children of whom three were living. Those three children were (in birth order) Anton/Anthony Stanley, Bronislawa/Bertha and Hedwige/Hattie Mnichowski. The 1900 census indicates that Anton and his parents were all born in Poland and had immigrated in the mid-1880s. Bronislawa and Hedwige had been born in Indiana. In 1907, Bertha married George Gundeck, and in 1917, Hattie married Jan Lewandowski in St. Joseph Co., Indiana (images of original marriage and marriage application records, familysearch.org) Anthony Stanley Mnichowski was naturalized in 1932, and his address was listed at 1234 W. Thomas St., South Bend, the same address listed as the residence of his parents in the census records.
According to the St. Joseph Co., IN obituary index, the obituary of "Mrs. Catherine Michowski (sic)" was published in November of 1931, and the obituary of Boleslaw Mnichowski was published in June of 1935. *The ages given for Boleslaw and Catherine are inconsistent from one census to the next and with their birth years as transcribed from their marriage record.
