Louis Charles Ridenour, 79, residing in South Bend, passed away at 9:15 am Saturday, January 31, 2015 at home. He was born November 19, 1935 in South Bend to the late Charles Cecil and Alberta (Majors) Ridenour and remained a lifelong area resident.
On October 17, 1954 in South Bend, Louis married the former Naomi R. Mendenhall, who survives. He is also survived by daughters, Kristi (Gary) Landaw of San Juan, PR and Charlene (Ronald) Lappin of Winterville, NC; six grandchildren, Amy (Jorge) Ortiz, Joseph (Cassandra) Landaw, Melisa (Jordan) Edwards, Joshua (Irma) Lappin, Bethaney (T.J.) Ryals and Steven Lappin; five great grandchildren; sisters, Joan Pehlke and Joyce Orisich, both of South Bend; and one brother, Richard Ridenour of Bristol. He was preceded in death by one brother, Albert Ridenour. Louis began his working career at the Standard Oil Gas Station on Lincolnway West in South Bend. He then worked for Wheelabrator until it’s closing, and retired from South Bend Community School Corporation as a maintenance engineer. Louis was a member of Ironwood United Pentecostal Church.
Funeral services for Louis will be 7:00 pm Wednesday, February 4, 2015 in Ironwood United Pentecostal Church, 4609 S. Ironwood Road, South Bend. Rev. Kenneth Mendenhall will officiate. Private interment will take place at Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 - 7:00 pm Wednesday in church prior to services.
