FORT WAYNE - James “Jay” Farkas, 53, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at the Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. Born in South Bend, Indiana, Jay graduated from Penn High School and earned his bachelor's degree from Indiana University. Jay was in the automotive industry spanning more than 20 years. A majority of that time was spent working with his father James at Tuffy Automotive Service Center. Jay had been a bus driver with Southwest Community Schools for the past few years. Jay's main priority in life was taking care of his family. He was very active as a coach for Don Ayres Fast Pitch Softball, along with his other hobbies of golfing and fishing. He served as a past volunteer fireman with the Aboite Township Fire Department for 10 years. Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Sandra Farkas of Fort Wayne; daughters, Kaleigh Farkas of Indianapolis, Maggie Farkas of Fort Wayne; parents, James and Judith Farkas of Fort Wayne; sister, Shelley (Rob) Manthey of Elkhart; sisters-in-law, Susan (Jack) Stoll of South Bend, Sonia (John) Collmer of Edwardsburg, MI; along with many nieces and nephews; and his dogs, Zoe, Zeke and Bama. Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 am Saturday, July 23, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, with calling one hour prior. Calling at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Rd., Friday from 4 pm to 8 pm with a vigil service at 7:30 pm. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Memorials may be made to his daughter Maggie Farkas's Educational Fund, checks payable to Sandra Farkas.
