Lucy Ann Vargo, O.F.S., 70, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 1:20 a.m. Thursday, May 25, 2017 in her home, following a brief illness. She was born on September 13, 1946 to the late Manus and Lucille (Delinski) Wargo in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident. Along with her parents; she was also preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Wargo in 2011. Lucy was a graduate of St. Joseph High School and Ball State University. She retired in May 2007 from School City of Mishawaka, where she was employed as a Teacher for 39 years at Emmons Elementary School. Lucy is survived by two nieces, Jennifer (Christopher) Freitas of Jupiter, FL; Sarah Wargo of South Bend, IN; one nephew, Patrick (Julie) Wargo of Dallas, TX; her great-nieces and great-nephews, Monica Wargo; C.J., Brendan, Henry and Clare Freitas; and many good friends. Lucy was a member of Holy Cross Parish and volunteered at St. John the Baptist School in the Art Program for the past 10 years. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a Franciscan Prayer Service will be held (time pending). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2017 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, with Rev. Vincent Coppola, C.S.C. celebrating and Rev. James A. Bracke, C.S.C. con-celebrating.
